The Avro Jetliner was the first medium range jet plane to fly in the world - and it was made in Canada. When customers were waving their checkbooks to buy them, our government cancelled the project. Though less well known, it is probably just as tragic for the future of aviation in Canada as the later Avro Arrow stupidity
