"Farmer and Train" - detail of the mural "Four Seasons In Stratford" by Lance Russwurm
Today, Stratford, Ontario, is known for it's Festival Theatre - The best Shakespeare on this side of the pond. However, to the seniors who live in the home where the mural is situated, Stratford is a railroad town. For a century, until the end of steam, Stratford's biggest industry was the huge railroad shop for servicing Canadian National locomotives. So, I just had to put one of those locomotives in the picture. A farmer, ploughing with a Belgian team watches. A typical Ontario gothic farmhouse is in the background.
