 "The Farmer's Market" (1996) a limited edition print by Lance Russwurm
For well over a century the riot of color and bustle of activity that is the Kitchener Farmer's Market has thrived in the downtown core. In addition to its original old fashioned Mennonite flavour, it has attracted every imaginable type of vendor and craftsperson - to say nothing of throngs of visitors from all over the world. To its local patrons, the soul of the city has always resided there. For this picture I drew on childhood memories of the original outdoor market in the prosperous years of the fifties when it was located behind the old city hall.
